Or is it bêtise? Updated

From comment on Strange Piece of Paradise:

"Strange things happen to people in America. Some bitterly cruel. And some so beautiful that faith is retired forever." …~Terry.

He hit me again and again
Reply: Maybe that is what happened to him.  Maybe it’s the way he was raised.
But, he hit me again and again.
He must have had a reason.
[Thought: Let’s see, shall I simply state the reality again?]

So when does this ridiculous conversation in fatuity---or is it bêtise--- end?
============
A modern Christian would have chided Jesus for being unloving and telling the woman that adultery is a “sin.”
----------
Woodrow Wilson attended the Sunday morning service alone as his wife was feeling ill.  When he returned his wife asked him about the sermon.  What did the minister talk about this morning?  "Adultery," he answered.  Well, what did he say about it?  "He's against it."
----------------------
As my neighbor came home from Mass I asked her what was the sermon about today?.........[I am ill.]
Then I asked her, "How are you doing? And your children?"  [They had just returned from 'the' shelter.  Thankfully today there were no bruises.]
