A Poem A Day from the George Hail Library ~ Selected by Maria Horvath: Cat in an Empty Apartment

A Poem A Day from the George Hail Library ~ Selected by Maria Horvath: Cat in an Empty Apartment
Excerpt:
With sadness we note that the great Polish poet Wislawa Szymborska died last week.

Szymborska received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1996
....
Nothing seems different here,
but nothing is the same.
Nothing has been moved,
but there’s more space.
And at nighttime no lamps are lit.

Footsteps on the staircase,
but they’re new ones.
.....
Someone was always, always here,
then suddenly disappeared,
and stubbornly stays disappeared.
